WHAT, pray tell, are we celebrating on Columbus day?
Yeah, yeah I know who he was...I know he "discovered" the "new world" and all that good stuff. But I'm thinking here...uhhh sooooo why is America getting the day off off this? (Okay. So not EVERYBODY gets off work...I'll give 'em that much. But I know a WHOLE BUNCH of folks who DO. )
Dude. If Christopher Columbus knew we took a day off work in his name...he'd prolly laugh in our faces.
This is the dude that took it upon himself to convince the Queen of Spain to convince the King of Spain to give him ( Columbus) money AND ships AND men AND resources enough to embark on a "mission" that, for all they knew would end in NOTHING.
So, now that I'm thinking about it...He kinda deserves to have a day named after him.
He was a pretty smooth guy.

Well I didn't get off of work in the name of Columbus...Only bank and post office employees get that kind priviledge:( But I like your spill on things:)
HAHA! I am yon student that now says *GO CHRISTO COLUMBO*! I have never enjoyed holiday at this level before. Maybe I'll get a job that celebrates these little holidays too. If not I'll invite you to come talk to the president about them. HA-HA! I'm spewing rambalige. =) ~
